My Diaryland
10:45 p.m. - 2024-05-01 S still hasn't fully worked out his cunning plan to re-vamp the old band and play the pre-bookings with a new line up. In fact, he asked Lee tonight, our new drummer, if he might be available to dep any of those pre-booked shows. I don't think S has faith in Mike covering them all despite him saying he would give it a go. It makes for interesting times ahead, but the uncertainty demands that there are no more unforeseen or unexpected issues. More than anything, we need a little stability amongst the available personnel. A strange thing happened earlier this evening when I was walking past a neighbour's home. It's been warm here today and all the windows onto the front of my neighbours house were open. Suddenly there were raised voices, I mean seriously loud shouting and arguing between the man of the house and a woman. I'm not sure what it was about, but the last words I heard him say were "STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY STUFF - UNDERSTAND?! None of us was willing to get involved and as everything went silent we all moved on. I passed by the house about 15 minutes later and all the windows were closed and the drapes drawn. It was peaceful once again. Tonight after band rehearsal I noticed the woman's car was vacant from the drive, and she never usually takes the car out after 5pm in the evening. Just then she appeared and reversed into the driveway. I said hello as she came to lock the gates and I asked her how she was. Fine she said, everything is fine. I thought it odd that she repeated herself but I really only could assume everything was fine. Her man also usually locks up the gates, but was no where to be seen. I've never argued like that with any wife or girlfriend in my life, or raised my voice in any way. Maybe thats why I find couples arguing with raised voices so distressing. Some people I have known shout and ball at each other lots, it's part of who they are. I personally don't see how that sort of behaviour is justified. It serves no purpose other than to appear threatening. " The empty vessel makes the loudest sound " quoted William Shakespeare in Henry V comes to mind. I have met this dude on several occasions and while he seems nice enough out on the street, there definitely isn't a whole lot of substance to him in my opinion. I hope everything is all right.
